SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, which is employed to confirm whether an e-mail message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will stop the faking of emails generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this attribute for a domain generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks whether it comes from an official server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet if it doesn't originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address to make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This approach is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to choose one of your domain names from the drop-down list and to type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be approved to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This option offers you the highest level of safety, but it's not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are taken care of in another place. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is featured with all the Linux semi-dedicated servers, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you'll be able to activate the service with ease for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a rather easy to work with interface, so you do not have to be tech-savvy to protected your email addresses. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be active for the domain that you have picked. As an additional option, we also give you the ability to control your outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting messages to be sent only if the domain involved includes our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain have to be handled here and not by some other supplier. By doing this you'll get even better control and there will not be a chance for anyone to fake your email addresses for harmful objectives.
